A look into the past
Twenty years ago, Cosphatec began with a clear vision: to rethink cosmetic ingredients - sustainably, innovatively and responsibly. The first bold steps led to a history characterised by progress and a deep understanding of nature. Today, we proudly look back on two decades of successful company history that have shaped natural cosmetics through innovation and commitment, and we look forward to celebrating this special milestone.
2005
Cosphatec is born. On 18 February 2005, Frank Brauns started in his parents' house - from labelling the products to delivering the goods, his parents' shed was the first "business premises". These are real start-up times: Frank delivers 500-kilogram consignments himself in his own car. However, after the first five years of real hands-on work, it is soon time to move into the first shared office space in Hamburg city centre.
2010
After 5 years, the time has come to move into our first proper office. In these rooms there is also enough space for our own laboratory. This is an incredibly big step that helps us to further develop our products and our quality. From now on, we have the opportunity to design our products ourselves from scratch and test them down to the smallest detail. This decision will prove to be a real game changer.
2012
We are very pleased to be present for the first time with our own booth at the In-Cosmetics Global trade fair in Barcelona and to present our latest innovation, Cosphaderm® Magnolia Extract 98. It is a great experience that has further strengthened our path. This exhbition not only gives us the opportunity to showcase our latest products, but also to interact with other industry experts and provide the inspiration that drives us for future developments. We are thrilled with the positive response and the opportunity to further advance our vision for innovative, sustainable solutions in the field of cosmetics.
2013
Cosphatec is growing - and our team is growing with us! 2013 marks the foundation of our first official R&D team, which has been breaking new ground in the development of our products with passion and expertise right from the start. With the growing product range, a larger warehouse is also necessary to guarantee our customers the best quality and availability at all times. A year full of progress and new possibilities!
2015
The time is ripe for the launch of Cosphaderm® Propanediol natural, which becomes one of our most popular products on the market. So popular, in fact, that we are adding the palm oil-free variant Cosphaderm® Propanediol natural palm free to our portfolio in 2024. This year, we will continue to expand our distribution network as our team further increases its global reach.
2016
We are expanding our horizons and founding our first subsidiary, Cosphatec Shanghai. With this step, we are strengthening our commitment to the Asian market in order to be able to serve our customers even closer and better. At the same time, our portfolio expands to include Cosphaderm® KG, a highly effective thickening agent that sets new standards in quality and efficiency. This moment marks not only a strategic expansion, but also our passion to drive innovation and proximity to our customers worldwide.
2017
It's official - we have received our first RSPO certification! This means that our customers can be sure that we source our palm oil raw materials exclusively from fair and sustainable cultivation. Sustainability and responsibility towards people and nature have always accompanied us and characterise our daily actions. This certification is another important step on our way to ensuring a better future - both for people and for the planet.
2018
A real milestone for us: our first patent application for Cosphaderm® Sodium LAAS has been filed! Our dedicated R&D team has put a lot of passion and tireless work into this development to create an innovative, versatile ingredient that not only has skin conditioning and masking properties, but also acts as antimicrobial protection. Cosphaderm® Sodium LAAS can ensure the microbiological stability of a formulation as a stand-alone solution without the use of conventional preservatives. We are proud of this step and look forward to how this breakthrough innovation will help shape the future of the skincare industry.
2019
Our journey continues and our team is getting stronger and bigger. To keep pace with this incredible development, we are delighted to announce our move to brand new premises with an expanded, state-of-the-art laboratory and modern, spacious offices. This move is an exciting milestone that will allow us to foster innovation, collaboration and growth like never before. Here's to shaping the future together in our new home.
2020
Time for a change: We are getting a fresher, more natural look. The new design, the muted, earthy colours and the new content reflect the natural aspect that the company values so highly and that embodies the corporate philosophy. In addition to the new magazine and the new formulation book, our customers and partners can expect a redesigned website with many benefits.
2021
We are on a dynamic growth path and are continuously expanding our portfolio. With new raw materials such as Cosphaderm® LA-T palm free, Tapmix and Zinc Lactate Natural, we are creating even more variety and offering innovative solutions that meet current market requirements. This not only strengthens our product range, but also our position as a reliable partner for modern and sustainable cosmetic raw materials.
2023
What an incredible year! We are proud to launch our second major subsidiary, Cosphatec Paris SAS, which represents an important step in our growth. At the same time, we publish ground-breaking research results on the water activity of our innovative raw material Cosphaderm® Absolute. Together we celebrate these successes and the important milestones that define our path.
2024
Our pioneering active ingredient, Cosphaderm® Tocopharin with natural rosemary extracts, is launched on the market and impresses right from the start. It combines the power of nature with cutting-edge science and sets new standards in terms of effectiveness and sustainability. Its exceptional performance and versatility are well received by customers.
2025
A year of success and gratitude: Cosphatec celebrates 20 years of innovation, sustainability and success in the cosmetics industry. For two decades, we have set the standard for safe, sustainable and high-performance raw materials. We start our anniversary year with a special celebration in the circle of the Cosphatec family, where we look back together on our beginnings and celebrate the values that characterise us to this day.
