Cosphaderm® Magnolia Extract 98 is a natural extract from the bark of the Magnolia tree. A gentle and sustainable supercritical CO2 extraction procedure yields a high-purity standardised product consisting of the two isomers Magnolol and Honokiol. The product comes in the form of an almost scentless, off-white and water-dispersible powder. It is a multifunctional compound that can be used for product protection and as an active ingredient. Efficient radical scavenging properties provide the potential for application as an antioxidant and anti-ageing ingredient. The comprehensive antimicrobial spectrum includes efficacy against acne- and caries-causing bacteria. Simultaneously, it can be used to pH-independently protect the product against microbial contamination or decay, especially caused by moulds.
