Its molecular structure, featuring two vicinal hydroxyl groups and a short carbon chain, provides unlimited water solubility. This characteristic makes it particularly suitable as a moisturising and humectant ingredient in both skin care and hair care formulations.
Static light scattering studies demonstrate that Cosphaderm® Pentiol natural can additionally support the stabilisation of O/W emulsions by reducing droplet size. Beyond its conditioning benefits, pentylene glycol exhibits pH-independent antimicrobial activity and shows strong synergistic effects when combined with other antimicrobial substances, enabling a reduction in the overall level of preservatives.
