Cosphaderm® Heptiol natural

Cosphaderm® Heptiol natural is a pure, colourless diol of natural origin with a water solubility of up to 1 %. The diol is used as a moisturising ingredient and humectant in skin and hair care formulations and contributes to improved hydration.
Studies using static light scattering show that Cosphaderm® Heptiol natural can also be used to stabilise O/W emulsions by reducing the droplet size. Another important property of 1,2-heptanediol is its pH-independent antimicrobial activity, which is further enhanced by synergistic effects with other antimicrobial substances and allows optimisation of preservation.
